What Is
Jesus Day? |
March for Jesus / Jesus Day
May 26, 2012 |
Jesus
Day is a day of service and celebration by the Body of
Christ that takes place the Saturday before Pentecost Sunday
each year. Christians gather together to express their love
for Jesus by serving their communities and worshipping their
Lord in the streets of their cities.
|
Celebration
March for Jesus brings Christians of every
tradition, age, and color, into the streets to
celebrate what Jesus has done and to ask God's
blessing on our cities. It is nothing more and
nothing less than a joyous celebration of our Lord
Jesus Christ. Everyone is welcome to attend. March
for Jesus is a heartfelt praise for Jesus and prayer
for cities and nations.

Service
 |
Luke 14:13, 14,
"But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the
crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be
blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will
be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous”.
Matthew 25:40,
"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth,
whatever you did for one of the least of these
brothers of mine, you did for me." |
|
When we reach out and serve our community, and
especially those in need, not only do we live out
the second part of the great commandment – love your
neighbor as yourself – but we create relationships
that can lead to reaching people with the Gospel.
When the church shows God’s love in practical ways,
it opens the hearts of the people to receive a
message of hope. The proclamation and the acts of
kindness coming from the Body of Christ together
will cause the unsaved to see something that draws
them unto the Lord Himself. A visible and effective
church is what God has established to reach the
lost. |

Unity
In
John 17,
Jesus prays to the Father “that all of them may be
one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.
May they also be in us so that the world may believe
that you have sent me.” Yet in many circumstances,
non-Christians see the Church very divided, almost
as many different segments that do not even belong
to the same whole. As far as denominations go,
there are many differences between us, but we do
not gather around our lowest common denominator, but
the highest: our love for Jesus Christ and the
acknowledgement that He is the only way to the
Father and salvation
(John
3:16, John 14:6). |
