We are a focal point for Recycling Bicycles in Central Pennsylvania - what really happens is people throw them in the yard & then run like mad. The lady of the house then yells “some-body leaving bikes in the yard” and that’s my signal to hurry out & hide them to keep her happy!

Some bikes are fixed and returned to the community.

Other bikes are taken to Gettysburg, Pa where Doc and Bernie from Pedals for Progress fix them and then ship them overseas.

Eventually some bikes are so bad that they are stripped for parts and the scrap metal recycled to enhance the environment.

The parts are stored in a sort of Mobile Repair Facility; it’s a lawn care trailer enclosed with 8’ plywood which looks like a hill-billy outhouse on wheels. The MRF then is towed around the area all summer, to facilitate Free Bike Repair for Kids. That’s the part we really like to do!

Plus - we now have an operating Bike Warehouse at 821 Elder Street in Harrisburg from 12 noon to 3 pm on Mondays and 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesdays plus a bike repair class 6 to 8 pm on Thursdays -  Saturdays are out on the street in the summer but in December we repair bikes for Christmas on Saturdays from 8 am to 12 noon
